Custom Sizing Guide

Custom sizing is a great alternative for customers who are in between standard sizes or fall outside our standard height options. We tailor the dress to your exact 5 basic measurements: Bust, Waist, Hips, Height, and Hollow-to-Floor.

The best part? It costs the same and takes the exact same amount of time to make as our standard size dresses.

Is It a "Perfect" Fit?

While custom sizing provides a much closer fit than standard sizing, it is not a guaranteed perfect fit.

  • Minor Adjustments Expected: Because we only take 5 basic measurements, we cannot account for every detail of your unique proportions or body shape. You should expect to make minor adjustments with a local seamstress.
  • Strap Lengths: Strap length is not determined by the 5 requested measurements. We intentionally make straps on the longer side to accommodate various torso lengths, so they generally need to be adjusted locally.
  • Alteration Reimbursement: To help with final tailoring, we offer alteration reimbursements of up to $30 depending on the dress ordered. LoverBridal is not responsible for any additional fees beyond this limit.
How to Measure Correctly
  • Use the Right Tool: Always use a soft fabric measuring tape, not a metal construction ruler. Follow our official Measurement Guidelines.
  • Add Ease for Comfort: We highly recommend adding 0.25 to 0.5 inches to your bust, waist, and hip measurements to give yourself breathing room.
  • Do Not Size Down: Never decrease your measurements, even if you are planning to lose weight before the event.
  • Do Not Use Standard Charts: Because standard sizing has ease built-in and custom sizing is made exactly as ordered, never order a custom size by submitting the numbers from a standard size chart.

Crucial Design & Proportion Rules

1. Custom Sizing vs. Custom Design: Custom sizing is basic. We cannot change the fundamental design or proportions of the dress. We cannot make a floor-length dress into a knee-length design, or vice versa.

2. Never Alter Height to Change Skirt Length: Do not change your Height or Hollow-to-Floor measurements to artificially make the dress shorter or longer. These measurements determine the entire proportion (neckline, waistline, hemline). Falsifying them may cause the waistline of your dress to sit improperly, even up near your neck.

3. Convert Height Correctly: Please convert your height to inches carefully at checkout. For example, if you are 5'6", your height is 66 inches (5x12 + 6), NOT 56 inches.

Return Policy

We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise (such as event cancellations or sizing changes). However, please note that custom-sized dresses are tailored specifically to your personal measurements and cannot be resold.

Therefore, custom-sized dresses are strictly NON-RETURNABLE for any reason.
